After 3 years, the gym has finally granted us permission to update our storage. All hands on deck, we will be building at lakeside volunteer rescue squad in the ambulance bays in 2 teams. 1 team will be placing shelves in the sword rack while the other team builds the armor cart. Some tools are being provided by Lakeside members but if you have any drills, table saws, chop saws, circular saws, jig saws, nailguns or a pickup truck please bring them so we can put this together quickly and smoothly.  Blueprints  

RKDF is our sister club and we think it's important to visit them a few times each semester to get a different curriculum and perspective. You are responsible for your own transportation, arrive around noon with all your kit, all your weapons and be ready to fight.  RKDF doesn't believe in lesson plans. 

We will be teaching and reviewing a few of the key Schielhau plays to compliment our "in response to the oberhau" drill. Mike will be exploring it and the other master cuts further in a guest lecture on the 27th.  Lesson plan

Officers in training will be debriefed from Friday's Rot competition and prepared for leading practice on October 12th. Rotmeisters will be trained in next month's Rot drills. Everyone else will have mixed weapons and open floor for additional training.  Lesson plan 

Rot competitions are designed to prepare fighters for tournaments by pitting the different rots against each other. The focus is on not doubling, each fighter gets one exchange. if they score points then those points are added to their Rot's total score. However if they double then 2 points are deducted from their Rot's total score. The Rot that has the highest score at the end of the competition wins the scepter of victory. Individual scores are also calculated. Officers in training are in charge.  You must purchase a ticket to register, please fill out all the required information. Registration begins at 18:15, if you are not present and registered by 18:45 you forfeit your spot. Please refer to the VCU Rot competition ruleset before regestration. 

Kianna is an exceptionally talented fencer who's Zwerchaus are terrifyingly effective. She is an inspiration for all of us and her's is not a lesson you ever want to miss. We will film a condensed 10-minute version after the lesson for reference.

We will be holding mandatory staff training for all elected and appointed officials. Their training will consist of vocal coaching, leadership strategies, and learning September's Rot drills. Everyone else will go through judging training.  Afterward, we will open the floor for additional practice and mixed weapons. Lesson plan 

Elections for all leadership positions will be held today, each candidate will give a short speech followed by a silent vote that will be counted by the president and vice president. Officer positions are president, Vice president, Treasurer, and safety officer. Elections will be held for the three Rotmeister positions and the PR and technology officer will be appointed by the president. Please refer to the complete description of positions and responsabilities for more information. The elected officers will take power in January 2019 after fall training. All elected staff are required to attend training on Saturday 9/8.  Rots will be formed and we will have a short lesson on the foundational skill of parrying. Lesson plan
